Art Expressions Gallery, 2645 Financial Court, Suite C, San Diego 92117. February 25, 2006.
San Diego, CA – On Thursday, February 23, art students in Marion Palmieri’s class at Mission Bay High School will board a bus underwritten by ArtsBusXpress for a trip to Mesa College to view the Beatles exhibit. Then they’ll head to Art Expressions Gallery to view their own art, professionally framed and hanging in the Gallery, ready for sale as part of a fundraising event for ArtsBusXpress Saturday, February 25. Students will arrive at Mesa College around 9:35 AM, tour the college gallery, and then head to Art Expressions Gallery for arrival at 11:30 AM.
As part of a class project, these students were asked to paint replicas of Beatles Album covers to tie into the theme of the fundraising event, When I’m 64”…A Magical Mystery Tour to the Arts. The event celebrates the 64th birthdays of Beatles’ singer Paul McCartney and ArtsBusXpress Founder Patty Smith at Art Expressions Gallery on Saturday, February 25, 2006, from 6:00PM to 10:00PM. Coincidentally, another class of Mission Bay High School students created the ArtsBusXpress website under the direction of teacher Gail Lake, now with the Multimedia and Visual Arts School at Crawford Educational Complex.
When I’m 64”…A Magical Mystery Tour to the Arts invites people to enjoy culinary delights, fabulous drinks and rock the night away to Beatles’ tunes. Tickets are $64 per person and proceeds benefit ArtsBusXpress, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that gives San Diego children a “Magical Mystery Tour” to the arts. The night will also include a karaoke contest, Beatles trivia contest, a live art auction of original Beatles-themed art by artists Robin Hall, Ros Hill, Louis Mason, and Stacy Smith, and the sale of original student Beatles album cover art created by the Mission Bay High School students.
Guests are encouraged to dress in mod attire. Space is limited so prompt reservations are encouraged!

ArtsBusXpress became a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization in 2005, but operated since 2002 as the arts and education program of the San Diego-Tijuana Sister Cities Society. The program underwrites fieldtrip transportation – the “missing link” in a two-way street connecting San Diego school children with arts-rich learning opportunities throughout the region. ArtsBusXpress bus grants enable teachers to expand classroom resources and give children unforgettable experiences in music, theatre, dance, art galleries and museums. Since the first bus was launched in October 2002, 23,000 students in more than 130 San Diego schools have been offered A Ride to the Arts!
