The study of the arts helps children with cognitive development. The students build math skills and abilities as they observe cause and effect, and visual art patterning. They learn language skills from the practice of describing and creating new things or from observing a play or instrumental performance.
A small school like Ocean Beach Elementary would never be able to afford to go anywhere without ABX’s generosity. I am so grateful to ABX, for over the years my students learned about science engineering by visiting train museums, created their own art by attending make and take art classes at art museums, and were inspired to perform and play instruments by attending musicals and symphony performances at theaters.
On behalf of my first-grade students, I cannot thank you all enough for all you’ve done to support our learning journey.
