ArtsBusXpress is a non-profit organization that raises funds to cover or offset the cost of field trips for TK-12th grade San Diego County public and charter school students and teachers.
We help extend, enhance, and ignite creative thinking by connecting students to robust informal learning experiences in museums, science/environmental centers, aquariums, and theaters.
ArtsBusXpress is the only organization in San Diego County that provides financial awards directly to teachers to cover or offset the the cost of bus transportation, outreach opportunities and virtual programs.
Grants, individual donations, and fundraising events enable our team to provide funds so teachers can take students on life-changing out-of-classroom field trip experiences that expand their horizons.

For a limited time, ICA, ArtsBusXpress, and the Brandes Foundation are offering teachers a free field trip plus bus transportation to ICA at either the Balboa Park or the Encinitas campus for students to participate in the Explore + Make program. Both the program and the bus transportation are included in this opportunity.
To book, please follow these steps:
First, contact ICA using this link to secure a date for your field trip: https://icasandiego.form.veevartapp.com/form/view/home/explore-make-form
Once you have a firm date, visit the ArtsBusXpress website, and complete an application: https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=artsbusx
Check the option for the ICA Explore+Make program on the ArtsBusXpress application.
ArtsBusXpress will review and confirm the amount of the award available for your bus.
As always, teachers are responsible for booking the bus with the transportation company. Invoices should be forwarded to ArtsBusXpress for payment within 30 days of taking the field trip.
2025/2026 school year funding
ABX now accepts applications during two application periods. With an emphasis on serving Title 1 schools, we rank applications according to need, and fund as many field trips as our budget allows.
September 1 - October 31
For field trips through December 31
January 1 - February 28
For field trips through June 30
