How it Works

ABX provides funding to help cover or reduce the cost of bus transportation, virtual programs, and outreach opportunities to arts and science venues throughout San Diego County.  

 While all San Diego County TK-12th-grade public and charter school teachers may apply, ABX prioritizes students attending under-resourced Title I schools.  

Funding is limited, apply early!

Application Periods

August 1 - September 30
For field trips through December 31

January 1 - February 28
For field trips through June 30

What You Should Know Before Applying

  • You must submit a follow-up report after each field trip is taken. Failure to do so may jeopardize your ability to apply for future bus grants.

  • If your application is approved, but you do not use the funding, please notify us immediately at info@artsbusxpress.org so those fund can be allocated to another teacher.

How to Apply

You will need to complete our online application. To do so click the button below, create an ABX user ID and password.

You will need the following information: 

  • School Name and School District 

  • Title I Status 

  • Total number of Students and Grade Levels Participating  

  • Number of Teachers Involved 

  • Lead Teacher Name and Contact Information 

  • Additional Teachers Name and Contact Information 

  • Type of Field Trip (on-site, virtual or outreach) 

  • Preferred Field Trip Date 

  • Venue/Institution Name 

  • Field Trip Objectives/Standards 

  • Number of Chaperones for On-Site field trips 

  • Number of Buses (if applicable) - Pick up and return time, transportation contact information and the transportation estimate from your selected provider. Please use district transportation if available.

Teacher Responsibility

  • You are responsible for contracting with the bus transportation service.

  • Invoices from your bus provider must be sent to ArtsBusXpress within 30 days of your field trip. Please advise the transportation provider that ABX will not pay invoices received after 30 days.

  • After each field trip, you must submit a follow-up report to info@artsbusxpress.org. These reports provide testimonials and examples of student learning experiences that help us convince grantors and donors to continue funding field trip transportation.

Your application will be reviewed
within 14 days. 

  • If approved, you will receive an email containing your confirmation voucher.

  • Transportation companies and venues send invoices directly to ABX via 
    billing@artsbusxpress.org
