For theater lovers, San Diego is an incredible place to be! Home to over fifty vibrant theater companies, the city offers a rich tapestry of performances that cater to every taste. From classic productions at the renowned Old Globe Theatre to contemporary works at the La Jolla Playhouse, there’s something for everyone.

And for San Diego, the Cygnet Theatre stands out as a true gem in our local performing arts scene. This theater’s team is passionate about engaging young audiences and has been offering free student matinees for nearly a decade. Many of these enriching experiences are made possible through transportation support from ArtsBusXpress.

Cygnet Theatre is dedicated to broadening young minds through theater. Each production, regardless of its time period or setting, touches on universal aspects of the human experience, ensuring every student leaves with a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Teachers recognize the immense value of introducing students to live theater, often through school field trips. For many young people, these trips are their first glimpse into the magic of the stage, igniting a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

One Student’s Response to Evita at Cygnet Theatre:

Dear ArtsBusXpress,

I sincerely thank you for the buses that took us to see the play known as Evita. We are from Chula Vista … I can say for a majority of us that we are so grateful that people like you give us the ability to watch and experience these charming plays that are played all over San Diego. Evita is a play that just captures the essence of a complex character…It’s so essential...that we look in the past and bring these stories of people who truly did something in the world. We appreciate these buses you give us to see these shows. These shows essentially show to light the past. Thank you for allowing us to take this experience

Help Us Fund Buses To Get Kids to San Diego's Cultural Experiences!

During 2023/24, ABX helped transport 1,123 students to theatrical productions. Help us ensure that all teachers that want to connect their young learners to theater or museums or science centers aren’t prohibited by the high cost of a bus. Just $15 helps gets one student there and back.
